This
page has information on the UKCPS - upcoming events, changes to the
running of the Society or to personnel. If there is anything you would
like to add to this section, or change, please contact
me
28/11/07 - The point of this page has now been taken over by the UKCPS News Blog.
If you are a member of the Society, you should if possible subscribe to
this blog, which will have frequent updates on what is happening with
your Society. Visit it through the link above, and subscribe by leaving
your e-mail address, and updates will be sent to you. That means that
this page will be updated now even less often than it has been in the
past!
30/08/07
- Again apologies, I have been extremely remiss in not updating this
page for some time! I hope that members are up to date with changes to
Executive from Talking Point, and as it does not seem worthwhile to
tell you again what has happened in the last 15 months, I won't be
updating this page again!
07/03/06
- I have been a bit remiss in updating
this page, so apologies to all! Some personell changes to report first.
We welcome Jo Goudie - belatedly! - as Membership
Secretary, and Chris Jarvis has taken on
Publicity/Sponsorship from Gwen Kitching, who will
be greatly missed. It is good to see that in our fifth year we can
still attract new people to help out an Executive that still needs more
help - nobody in five years has felt able to take on the Exhibitions
Secretary post, for example! In the next month, April, our third
Keswick exhibition will take place, and our recent Talking Point
newsletter includes an entry form for the Fifth Annual Open
International Exhibition, which can also be downloaded from the site.
See our Calendar page
for more details of these.
Fianlly
here, many congratulations to Hilary Buckley, who
obtained a Gold Medal from the Royal Horticultural Society for her
recent series of coloured pencil paintings of 12 months in "An Anglesey
Calendar"

Don't
forget to attend the AGM!!! Sunday,
September 4th 2005, at the Stable Gallery, Kington, Hereford, 2pm.
PLease let Clare at the Gallery know if you are coming. Click here for contact details
and directions. As a special incentive - not that you needed
one - Clare has arranged to be able to supply, on receipt of your
order, some Karisma pencils. She can lay her hands on sets of 24, or
most pencils individually. Let her know what you would like, and she
will endeavour to supply while stocks last. Then come and collect them,
see the exhibition before it comes down, meet up with everyone, and see
Ann James Massey's demo of Realistic eyes.

2/6/05 Member Karen Coulson has had a good month -
not only is she the featured artist in this months wonderful issue of
Talking Point, but she is also featured in the Readers Gallery section
of this months A&I magazine.
Member
Bob Ebdon had the wonderful news that one of his pictures - Poppies -
was accepted into the final round of the prestigious Artis/Leisure
Painter National art competition, and a second entry of his was highly
commended. It is good to see cp work doing well against work by
professional artists in all other media. Say hello to Bob and member
David Matthews at the Patchings Farm Arts Festival near Nottingham June
9th-12th.
An
important addition to the range of memberships offered by the society
has been announced. It is now possible to get all of your subs paid in
one lump sum and become a Life Member. Contact Treasurer Sophie for
details.
Don't
forget to let Peter or Pat know if you want to come to the Preview
Evening of this year's exhibition at Stable Studio Gallery, Kington,
Herefordshire, on Saturday Aug 6th, 6-9pm, or if you intend coming to
the AGM September 4th, 2pm.

15/03/05 Lots of exciting
news to report! First check out the jury for the 2005 Exhibition, which
includes the wonderful Bernard Poulin, CPSA! We are also delighted to
announce a new cash prize, and a demo, both to be given by Ann James
Massey at the AGM.
Then
be sure to look out for "Artist International" Magazine in March/April,
which will have a feature on last years UKCPS Exhibition Prizewinners,
as well as the CPSA winners. International recognition at last.
Also,
welcome to Jill Jones, who has taken on the Publicity role, and to
Peter Weatherill who has taken on Local Groups, with Peter Page moving
to Sponsorship. Thank you all for your time and dedication.

28/02/05 Full details of the 2005 Exhibition are now available on the Exhibition 2005
page, including the entry form in downloadable pdf format if you have
lost yours!

December 2004 - Announced in this issue of "Talking Point" was the
great news that Ann James Massey had agreed to become our President.
The role of President of the Society is allowed for in the Constitution
as a figurehead for the Society. It was envisaged as available to
someone of great standing in the artistic community, and especially of
course the coloured pencil community, who would be able to promote the
Society through their contacts and who would be willing to lend their
reputation to our cause. Ann has been a supporter of the Society from
its inception, has travelled to each AGM, usually from France, and has
taken every oportuntity to promote the Society. She will make a great
President and we are delighted that she has accepted this role. I know
that already she has brought great enthusiasm and knowledge to the
Society, and welcome her wholeheartedly.

December 2004 - Gwen Kitching has announced that she is relinquishing
her posts as Publicity and Sponsorship Secretaries. Gwen has done a
fabulous job under very difficult conditions for many years now, and as
always when someone goes, we are very sorry to lose her. Her last
achievement was to get the Exhibtion winners from 2004 published - look
out for Issue No 42 (April May 2005) of International Artist magazine,
which will feature our winners alongside some of the CPSA winners. This
does mean that, as always, we are looking for people to step in and
help us out.
