Ursula Williams

Ursula WilliamsMy name is Ursula Williams, a self taught artist, born Ursula Flores in Cusco, Peru, in 1964. I lived in England for 14 years, where I acquired the British nationality, before moving to Spain with my husband Pete in May 2006. I found at a very early age that I had a natural artistic gift and loved sketching portraits of my school friends. Demands of adult life didn't allow me to pursue my artistic passion or to follow any formal artistic education. Now living in Spain I have found my inspiration again.

My favourite subjects to draw and paint are human and animal portraits although I also love trying other subjects.

My main medium is Coloured Pencils but I also use Tempera & Gouache, Watercolour and Acrylics. I also paint wall murals and Trompe l’oeil. I have been exhibiting over the Axarquia region of Andalucia, Spain, since December 2007 as part of the 'Malaga Mountains Artists', society formed with my friend Jenny Wray. In 2008 I was commissioned to paint the picture for the advertising poster of the Annual Fayre and the picture for the advertising poster of the 2009 Green Band Christ festivities (shared with Jenny), both of the village of Almachar, in Andalucia. In January 2009 I joined the UKCPS (UK Coloured Pencil Society) and the AIA-Group (Andalusian International Artists Group, based in the Costa del Sol, Spain). On 31st May 2009, I was awarded with the 'Best Newcomer' award for my picture 'The Floral Shawl' at the 7th UKCPS 'World of Coloured Pencil' Exhibition 2009.
