Rachel Stirling
Rachel Stirling is a self taught artist, although as the child of Artists she always finds the definition a little unwieldy.....
" Growing up in a home with an Animal artist and a Landscape artist some of my earliest memories are arguments about who left the good sable brush in the black oil paint. I don't think that Art is so much learnt as absorbed at that age. Perhaps if I had been a little keener to follow in their footsteps I would be a better artist now but I was wayward and decided that Science was the way for me. Now things have come full circle and I am sitting drawing with my own daughter on my knee, telling me with serious determination that the problem with my picture is "It doesn't have green birds in it ! " ......"
Rachel works primarily in Portraiture occasionally dabbling in design and illustration work. She specialises in drawing from a live model and teaches a classical approach to drawing. She also helps to run the UKCPS stands at the NEC where she can regularly be found sharpening pencils. She exhibits from time to time preferring to concentrate on commissioned work and teaching on a one to one basis.
She exhibited at the RBSA gallery in spring 2009.
