Rachel Pesterfield

Rachel Pesterfield BA (hons) has enjoyed art from a young age and has been drawing as long as she can remember. She enjoys a variety of media including photography, painting and drawing. She studied art at Leeds College of Art, moving on to The University of Leeds where she developed a love of landscape and photography.

Rachel has been using coloured pencils for a few years; it quickly developed into her preferred medium due to the control that it offers and the process of building many layers of colour to create a finished piece.

She loves colour and texture, especially natural textures such as weathering and erosion created by the extremes of the elements and the effects this has on man made objects. She likes to capture things that often go unnoticed such as the weathered, peeling door as shown in the piece ‘The Art of Time’.

Rachel also paints portraits on coloured pencil, she aims to capture a moment in a person’s life and portray their emotions in her drawings.
