Pauline Longley

Pauline LongleyPauline was born in Oxford and has always enjoyed arts and crafts gaining an ‘O’Level in Art at school. She attend a few painting classes over the years but didn’t pursue her interest until she had the opportunity to take early retirement in 2001. After receiving some commissions she has taken her work more seriously and elevated it to a different and more eclectic level. In 2006 she took up coloured pencil, now her preferred medium, and has since been accepted in several ‘juried’ exhibitions. She is an active member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society and two Somerset art groups.

Her first award came in 2007 when she received the ‘peoples vote’ for a Leopard at the Somerton Art Group exhibition. In September 2008 her pencil portrait of a camel, called ‘Floss’, received Highly Commended in the UKCPS 7th International Open Exhibition held at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol. 2009 has been her most successful year to date gaining 5 awards, four of these in coloured pencil. She has been fortunate enough to sell a number of pieces and now has a regular following on her blog.

Pauline has produced a series of written and illustrated “How To” tutorials for the UKCPS and is giving instruction in coloured pencil techniques to individuals and art groups. A selection of her paintings, have now been produced as greeting cards and prints.
