Galini Dimitriadou
I was born in 1981 in Greece and in 2002 I moved to England to study BA(Hons) Illustration in the University of Wolverhampton. Shortly after my graduation I got interested in portraiture and now I am a part time portrait artist and I hope in a couple of years to become full time. I particularly like to draw pets and children. I also try to pursue a career as a children's illustrator.
I began to draw from a very early age and all these years I experimented with a variety of materials from oil paints to pastels but none of these replaced my love for colour pencils. I find colour pencils simply fascinating because you can achieve such an impressive amount of detail and such a variety of colours and all these without making any mess.
I draw all my portraits and illustrations with Caran D' Ache water soluble pencils (which are my favorite by far) and Prismacolors on Daler-Rowney cardboard. I tried a lot of different kinds of paper before but on none of these I could draw with so much detail as I do now on Daler-Rowney paper (the only disadvantage is that I can't post my drawings in postal tube anymore).
I was truly amazed by the talent of the colour pencil artists on this site and that's why I decided to join UKCPS as I feel that there is still a lot to learn from you.
