Lene Daugaard

My name is Lene Daugaard. I live in Denmark.

I have always loved animals and to walk out in the nature surrounding my home are vital to me. To draw and paint is my passion. Therefore my greatest inspiration and favorite motives are animals and nature.

I am fascinated by the wonderful nuances of shapes, colors, textures and patterns found in nature. The texture of fur, the glow in an animals eyes, or how sunlight bounce over fur or feathers. The repetitive pattern of animals in groups. etc. - a never-ending inspration.

In my drawings and paintings I try visually to express my feelings from my observations; to engage you - the viewer - by conveying a mood or "a story".
In the traditional portrait I try to capture both likeness and personality of the animal.

I work in a variety of media: Pencils, colored pencils, water color, acrylic and pastels. I love details and the control of graphitepencils and colored pencils suits me the most.

Colored pencil artwork is not that known in Denmark, by setting up a danish blog on the subject, I hope to "spread the word" about the delight of working with this media."
