I grow beetroot every year in my vegetables garden because I love to eat them! Last year I thought how beautiful the leaves were – such vibrant greens against the purple/red stems and veins. I just knew I’d have to draw one. This is the result – tied with raffia to hold the leaves in an upright position until I had captured my image. I also wanted to show the ‘earthiness’ of the globe as well as the roundness and roughness.
