This late 16th century Yeoman’s farmhouse from Midhurst was one of the first Wealden buildings to be rescued and restored at Singleton’s Open Air Museum, Sussex. It is my favourite building there and seemed more suited for a drawing rather than a painting. Using only Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Sepia, Indigo and a little White it was mostly drawn with a brush from washes, but a little dry pencil was added to the bricks and rubble base for extra texture.
