Whitwham
Originally from West Yorkshire I am now
retired and living in the beautiful North Yorkshire Dales with my
husband. I am completely self-taught, with only a school GCE in Art,
but have drawn and painted all my life - mostly for pure enjoyment!
Specialising in drawing and painting animal
studies (especially dogs and horses) along with flowers, dance and
still life, I work predominantly with Karisma, Derwent and Caran d'Ache
pencils. I love working with my pencils, both coloured and graphite,
for me nothing quite equals them both for pleasure in use and the
precision in details.
Whilst living in West Yorkshire I regularly
exhibited with the 'British Society of Painters' in Ilkley where I was
a prize winner and was elected a companion of the International Guild
of Artists. I do feel very strongly about coloured pencil becoming
accepted as a fine art medium and think the UKCPS are doing a sterling
job in that direction. I sincerely hope they will eventually achieve
the acceptability and popularity they already have in America.
I do not actively seek commissions -
preferring to draw and paint the subjects I enjoy and only sell
originals. I have works in private collections in the UK, Australia,
Europe and America. My other creative interest is in web design having
designed many sites for local businesses along with an award winning
local community website www.middlehamonline.com promoting
the small and fascinating town in which I live!
