Louise Welsh
I
am a self taught artist living in Devon with my family, a mad Siamese
cat and a noisy Cairn terrier. I was born in Oxford. I have been
working with pencils for as long as I can remember, still enjoying this
medium and also still learning all the time. I usually work on Canford
card using the Karisma range of pencils. I also use Derwent Studio and
watercolour pencils and the Aquarelle range. I work from home in a
small studio converted from our old coal shed. I work on commissioned
portraits of people and pets, animal illustrations, line drawings for
catalogues etc., I am happy to draw anything really! I have my own
range of greetings cards which I sell locally and most of my pictures
are now available as limited edition giclee prints which is a project I
have taken on with a local printer. I also sell images for commercial
use, ie on shopping list pads, greetings cards and as illustrations for
children's books. I pay special attention to detail, and like to work
in a realistic style, usually working mainly from photographic
reference, as children and animals don't sit still for very long! I am
also a Member of SOFA (The Society of Feline Artists) and have
exhibited regularly with them at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery in
London each year. I consider myself very lucky to be able to work at
home and enjoy my work. It will always be a lifelong passion for me.
