Jean
Baptiste Morlot

Jean-Baptiste
Morlot, aged 44, moved from Nancy, France, to London this autumn. For
the past 16 years following gaining his Masters in European Law Jean-Ba
has been working as a parliamentary aide to a French MP. Over the same
period of time he discovered how much he enjoyed photography
(B&W landscape) and colour pencil drawing.
Self-taught, he tends towards strong structural images. He feels
abstractions and real objects can be translated in lines and curves as
a type of calligraphic message. He draws on marble paper and the glossy
effect results from polishing. The depth of colours obtained is through
burnishing and saturating the paper.
He
has learnt a great deal from Bernard Poulin’s Complete
Coloured Pencil Book and is delighted to have found a society dedicated
to colour pencil drawing.
