Gayle Mason

I am a self taught artist. I started working in pastels in 2001, but then I discovered coloured pencil and fell in love with them mainly because of the detail I can achieve with them. I sometimes add acrylic or pastel to the CP depending on the effect I want.

I started drawing by pet portraits and then added wildlife. I draw as often as possible, which is not that often as I breed and show the Glenspey Rough Collies and work more or less full time. I am lucky enough to have a steady stream of commissions but love doing pieces just for me, usually Rough Collie portraits!

My prints are held in private collections throughout the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Europe. I have recently made the decision to concentrate on mainly dogs, with the occasional cat thrown in for variation. I would love to draw full time and give up the day job, maybe one day!
