Takako Ikuta

Takako Ikuta is a self-taught artist from Japan. She was impressed with the works in the book of "The Best of Colored Pencil", and started to paint with colored pencils as a hobby.

Seven years after, in order to devote herself to coloured pencil art work, she lived in Germany for one year. She stayed in Konstanz (lakeside of Bodensee, picturesque surroundings with a lot of nature), and was moved by the beautiful land and hospitality of the people. She started to write poems.

On a Monday Morning

On a Monday morning
I go to market in the village
Since I have no vegetables in the fridge
I will buy some tomatoes, peppers and a head of cabbage
Oh, and I 'll also buy some kinds of sausage

I like to go to market
People are laughing and talking
Hello. How are you doing?
Hello. I 'm doing well on everything
In the morning sunlight fruits and flowers are shining

I walk around the market
I take courage and ask for what l need
People listen to an alien very kindly indeed
But they give a stick of salami though I want a bag of sesame seed
It's fun to talk to people even though I don't know the language indeed

On a Monday morning
People gave me a smile and happiness, too
