I
have
always been interested in drawing and painting from a young age.
Memories of using the back of left over wallpaper that I would tape to
my bedroom wall and cover with my drawings are still vivid. I went on
to take Art at O level and in the Higher grade before studying at
Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, Scotland, where I was
encouraged to develop my skills.
On
leaving college I quickly settled down to domesticity and took time out
to raise my two children but continued to paint and draw for pleasure.
It was only when they were older that I felt the time was right to
pursue a career in art, and am now a succesful animal/pet
portrait artist accepting commissions. My work can be found in private
collections around the UK, Belgium, Spain, America and as far away as
Australia.
In
my work I use colour pencils, graphite pencils, pastels and acrylics
but find I am most happy using colour pencils. I find them to be a very
forgiving medium in terms of the amount of control and fine detail that
can be achieved.
I love everything about them from their ease of
use to their incredible versatility. With the vibrancy and fine detail
that is achievable my coloured pencil portraits have proved to be the
most popular and frequently requested medium.
