Stephanie
Greaves
My name is Stephanie Greaves, and I live in
a wonderful rural village just outside Newmarket,
Suffolk. My husband and I have four young children and a
multitude of pets, including two large dogs and a horse.
My love of animals is the inspiration for a lot of my work, and as a
family of horse lovers this subject also figures in a lot of my recent
work. Living on a Thoroughbred racehorse Stud means that
inspiration for my equestrian work is never far away!
I
attended art lessons as a child, but since
then I have been self taught. I began seriously producing work
about 2 years ago, having been away from drawing to raise our
family. As they begin nursery and school I am finding new enthusiasm
for my artwork, and I have been successfully producing Pet and horse
Portraits.
Having
in the past used pastels for the
majority of my work, I discovered Coloured pencil about a year ago.
After playing around with different types and techniques I now use them
almost exclusively! I have found that the detail on fur that can be
achieved with pencil is so fine, and as I am quite a perfectionist that
suits me very well. I am learning so much about this medium at the
moment , each new piece is a step further into perfecting my technique.
I
regularly take commissions, and after a
successful exhibition in 2008 am looking
for new venues and hope to exhibit my new work in
2009.
