Bob Ebdon

For 22 years I taught Science in a Comprehensive School. No art, no time for art. Then I had to quit. As part of my therapy, I discovered I could draw a bit. In 1996 I bought a box of Derwent Artist pencils - and have never looked back since. I am largely self taught, but have had some life classes, and a memorable three day course with Ronald Swanwick. Apart from this, books have been my tutors, until I discovered I could actually converse with some of the authors on the Net.

For 11 years now I have been taking commissions, mostly of dogs, but lately more human portraits, and I have done portraits for clients as far afield as USA, Denmark and Switzerland. At present, I am finding it very hard to get at my pencils - I am much too busy with the UKCPS! I am also used to giving talks and workshops for art groups who see coloured pencil artists as something of a novelty - a view I hope we will change!- and teaching at Adult Education colleges. See our Workshops page for details of my courses
