Helen Coe

I was born in 1975 and I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. When I didn't have any pencils I would use pens, crayons even chalks, but my favourites have always been coloured pencils. I consider myself as self taught because although I have been to college to study fine art using cp in a final piece was frowned upon - they were not considered to be a 'proper' artists medium. As such I experimented with acrylics, inks, pastels and oils, using the latter for a few years until I became ill which made using them impractical. It was then that I rediscovered coloured pencils and the pure joy of usingthem. I realised no other medium could compare and now I don't use anything else. My favourite subjects are animals, birds and flowers and I love to create the illusion of fur or feathers. I have exhibited in a couple of local galleries and I am often approached by people who want portraits of their pets. I would welcome any suggestions and advice from fellow cp artists.
