I
live in Mytholmroyd, West yorkshire with my partner and our two
children. Ever since I can remember I have enjoyed drawing and
painting. I loved art lessons at school,
where I gained an O level and A level in art, but also spent a lot of
time at home experimenting with different techniques.
After my daughter was born I worked as a registered childminder, going
on to qualify in childcare
and education and then to become a nursery nurse. For
the next 13 years my creative energy was channelled mainly into
projects with the
children, with any free time used to scrapbook family photo
albums.
In
2005 I decided on a career change and since then have been
experimenting with different
media. I have worked on several commission projects in textiles (memory
quilts made
from recycled fabrics and transferred photographs) and pen and ink
graphic designs
(wedding invitations and several spot illustrations for history
journals etc).
In
April 2007 I found a tiny studio in a local mill and since then have
rediscovered coloured
pencils and have come to realise that of all the various
media I use, they are by far
the one I feel most comfortable and confident working in.
I
prefer to use Prismacolour pencils on bristol board.
