Katriona Chapman
Katriona
Chapman was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames in 1978. She studied at
Goldsmiths College and has a first class degree in English and Theatre.
She has lived and worked abroad, and travelled extensively in Europe,
Mexico and Central America.
She is fascinated by visual story-telling, and works as a professional
illustrator which allows her to combine her two main passions - reading
and art. She works in black & white and colour, and her
favourite media are pencils, coloured pencils, charcoal and pastels.
Natural history, portraits and the human figure are among her favourite
subjects, and she has completed many portrait and pet-portrait
commissions alongside her illustration work. Her work has featured in
‘Illustration’ magazine and ‘Artists and
Illustrators’. She has exhibited in the Mid-Sussex Arts
Festival and in the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art.
In
2005 she had a solo exhibition in the Green Room of the National
Theatre on London’s South Bank. She is a member of the
Brighton Illustrators Group.
Recently she was the overall winner in Derwent’s
‘Draw a Fairytale’ competition, with her
illustration of Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘Ugly
Duckling’.
