Graham Brace

I started drawing seriously in January 2000.

I find everything about my native Pembrokeshire in West Wales inspirational - the coast, the countryside and above all the superb quality of light. It is not only the broader views that I draw but I am also fascinated by the small corners which might go unnoticed by the majority of passers-by. Also, the beautiful tidal estuary alongside which I live is a constant source of subject matter.

I work predominantly in coloured pencil (Faber Castell Albrecht Durer, Stabilo Softcolor, Karisma and Caran d'Ache) but I also use chalk pastel, water colour and ink (for larger areas of background), gouache (for fine detail and highlights) and paper tissues, a pencil rubber and scalpel for blending, rubbing and scratching out. I work on smooth plain mounting board and occasionally on watercolour board and coloured wove paper.

For over 30 years I worked as a graphic designer running my own business but in December 2003 I left that behind to work full time as an artist. I undertake commissioned work and I have produced a range of limited edition prints which are for sale. For more details please check out my website.
