As far as I can remember, I have always created.
From the time I was a little girl, I had created an imaginary world of
my own. Perhaps it served as a survival mechanism or a way to chase my
boredom. At that time, I didn't know that I could make a living out of
it but I knew that I would devote my life to my creation, to my
drawings.
Above all, I love to work with coloured pencils
and to feel the texture of paper. They are definitely my favorite
medium. This ritual fulfills me with an incredible energy. The way I
work with coloured pencils is by superimposing around fifty layers of
colour in a very precise manner. I need to memorize each layer of
colour that I apply until I finish my painting. Because in this way, I
can "strip" and reveal the first sets of colors applied on paper and
create a reaction from the wax and the pigment of the pencil. This
technique enables me to draw on a more or less textured ammunition
paper and produce beautiful glazed effects.
Before starting a new drawing, there are a series
of steps that I undertake. I anticipate my artistic endeavour with my
model, then I analyze the decorative elements, the colours and the
perspective. There is always a long preparation before each of my
coloured pencil paintings as well as the drawing of a great number of
sketches. I believe all this process helps me to evolve with a greater
depth.
My creativity is mostly expressed from real life
models. My fascination with people is my main source of inspiration. To
express an emotion through forms and colors makes for an extraordinary
experience. Through my drawing, I transpose on paper what touches and
brings me wonderment. For now, I like the idea of creating the
sentiment of happiness for those who look at my paintings.
I can't imagine my life without art. It is the path
where I can fully bloom. My art also provides a wonderful opportunity
to travel and to meet people. I dream of going all over the world,
since I believe traveling still remains one of the greatest ways to
learn about human nature.
