I
grew up in a town of Pakistan where
people were uneducated and had no taste & knowlege for
art. Living in such society, art was something I never heard of. In my
childhood I felt attraction towards colour pencil drawings.
To a student, colour pencils were only available when he had to attempt
a drawing exam. I won a drawing competition, held in my school, when I
was 13. Once on T.V. I saw an artist with his drawings and I was really
impressed by his work. Afterwards my brother took me to an artist, in a
city close to our town, who had unbelievable work in colour pencils,
especially in mix dust charcoal. There I felt that it was the very way
I should really work on.
Soon after that I started spending my time, day
over day, with colour pencils and my art stuff. One of my friends, who
was also interested in art, took me to his master who was the best man
in this field I ever met. He was committed to his work and was
affectionate to his disciples. As far as I remember, he kept
nothing from me and, sincerely, led me to the place where I am.
I mostly draw portraits and specially old
faces in charcoal and colour pencil . But through out my art career I
loved colour pencil as I can work more deeply, and can give a life-like
look to my drawings. I visited a website, ukcps, where I met
Maria Rostock who appreciated my work and made me join ukcps. Despite
having limited resources and innsufficient art materials, I
have
been
doing
my level best. I crave your critical analysis and your comments about
my
work. Thanks in anticipation.
